Compared to Chianti Classico, the “Chianti Rufina” denomination is much smaller and is located in a cooler area of Tuscany. The end product wine tends to be more elegant and with lower alcohol levels.
Selvapiana is one of the reference producers of Chianti Rufina. They make exceptional wines that are single-vinyard riserva (like Bucerchiale), and their entry level Chianti is a great value. Color-wise, this bottle was ruby color, medium intensity. The nose was very intense, with strawberry, strawberry jam, raspberry, jujubes, and some herbs like sage. Essentially, it is packed with red fruit. Very intense flavors in the mouth too, but it is not dense. The texture is light, with bright acidity and beautiful balance. The finish is very long, full of jujubes. Some tannins, but they are ripe. This is a delicious wine concentrated with flavor.

Second tasting. Medium intensity nose. Red fruit, cherry liqueur, herbs. The flavors in the mouth are amazingly concentrated. The fruit is so dense and beautifully lifted by the acidity. Juicy.
