This wine is a bit more difficult to find in the United States, but it is made by arguably the leading producer in Italy of Grechetto, a native wine variety in central Italy. If you always drink Chardonnays, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Grigio, and you want to try something different – but not too different – you will like this.
This wine is unlike many other Italian white wines. As a simplification, Italian whites – and reds too – tend to be higher in acidity than many New World wines. If you try Verdicchio, you know what I am talking about. This wine is instead much softer. It is low in acidity, medium body, very aromatic and very tropical – with notes of mango, pineapple, and some vegetable too (that’s why it reminds me a bit of a Sauvignon Blanc).
So why am I not giving it a higher rating? Because I think this would be better with a bit higher acidity, but I bet a lot of people will prefer it this way.
