This is another of my favorite wines – this one, red. I fell in love with the 2018 version and since then I have been buying (and collecting) bottles that I think offer great value. Actually, I would argue that this is one of the best reds around $25.
Dry red wine, 14.5% alcohol. Medium-high opacity, with ruby rims. Medium-high intensity nose, with blackberries, plums, and accents of incense and tobacco. Very ripe and rich. In the palate, it is full of energy. Bright acidity and ripe tannins counteract the flavors and make it feel lighter than it is. The texture is dense. Long finish with dark fruit.
This is a riper version of this wine, with tons of dark fruit and hints of dried fruit too. This is a wine for aging. To revisit in 2035. I think my score will be even higher then.
