I am a big fan of Garnacha/Grenache when made in an elegant, restrained way. I do not like versions that are boombastic and high in alcohol. Viña Zorzal is a master at producing exactly the style that I prefer. It just shows the potential of this grape. Even though it is rich and juicy and fruity, it is a balanced wine.
Dry red wine, 14% alcohol. Medium opacity, ruby color. Lighter than I am used to for a garnacha. Medium-high intensity nose, with raspberry, strawberry, flowers, and some aromatic herbs. Medium-full body, with an electric mouthfeel given by the bright acidity. Smooth and concentrated. The finish is also very long.
This wine knocks it out of the park. The aromas are pure and fresh (no jammyness), concentrated flavors and a smooth texture. One of the best Garnacha I have had.
