The Gamay grape and Beaujolais wine is famous for being a young, joyful, simple wine to drink soon after harvest (the Beaujolais nouveau particularly). However, recently these wines, especially the Village level, have received more media attention for being great tasting, more complex, and not just for immediate consumption. This is one of such wines.
Dry red wine, 13% alcohol. Completely opaque, with ruby rims. High intensity nose, dominated by floral aromas, with blackberry, fruit punch, raisins, and bay leaf. Medium-light body, but good concentration of flavors. There is a bitterness in the end that contrasts the juicy fruit flavors in the palate. The finish is long.
This is a juicy, fruit-forward, aromatically rich wine that is well balanced and with a strong concentration of flavors in the palate.
