2021 La Ca’ Nova Barbaresco Montestefano [Rating: 4.5/5 | $50]

Tasted on October 20, 2024. #DailyWine #dnardi #Nebbiolo #Piedmont #Barbaresco #LaCaNova

This is the first Barbaresco I try from the 2021 vintage, which is supposed to be great. It closes up a string of three phenomenal vintages in Piedmont (and Italy in general): 2019, 2020, and 2021.

Dry red wine, 14.5% alcohol. Medium dark opacity, ruby color. Medium intensity nose, with raspberry, cherry, floral and spice notes, like star anise. There is also a cherry liqueur component. Full body, concentrated flavors, and an impressive tannic structure. However, there is plenty of fruit richness to compensate and the wine finishes with ripe red fruit.

This wine is charged with concentrated flavors and tannins. It is already open for business now, buy it will show even better in 5-7 years.
