Tasted on October 12, 2024. #DailyWine #dnardi #Sangiovese #Tuscany #Rufina #ChiantiRufina #Bucerchiale #Selvapiana
Dry red wine, 14% alcohol. Medium opacity, garnet rim. Medium-high intensity nose, filled with raspberry, strawberry, cherry, cherry liqueur, and some hints of bay leaf – but this is really big on red fruit. Full body, concentrated flavors of red fruit in the palate too, and a long finish. The fruit is very ripe and rich, but the wine is smooth and well balanced.
This is the third vintage of this wine that I taste, and once again, I am impressed. The wine is perfectly balanced and concentrated. In this vintage, the wine is more fruit forward and rich than I remember. In fact, based the notes of cherry and the whole aromatic profile, I probably would have guessed this was a Barolo – and a good one. And that, to me, is a real compliment.
