2021 Badia a Coltibuono Chianti Classico [Rating: 4/5 | $22]

Tasted on August 23, 2024. #DailyWine #dnardi #Sangiovese #Tuscany #ChiantiClassico #Chianti #BadiaAColtibuono

This is a reference producer of traditionally-made Chianti Classico, i.e., medium body, fresh, and showing red fruit. I have already reviewed previous vintages. This is the latest release in the US market.

Dry red wine, 13.5% alcohol. Medium opacity, ruby color. Medium-high intensity nose, with plenty of red fruit, including raspberries, cherries, strawberries, and cheery liqueur. Medium body, lots of acid. The wine feels very light and fresh. The palate follows the same aromas as in the nose. There are some Mediterranean herbs, but mostly it shows red fruit. Long finish with plums and jujubes.

This is a lighter, crisper – and classic – style of Chianti Classico that impresses for the aromatic intensity.
