2023 Tiberio Cerasuolo d’Abruzzo [Rating: 4/5 | $22]

I am a big fan of this wine. The 2023 vintage just came out. I recently had the 2022 so I am curious to see how they compare.

Dry rose’ wine, 14% alcohol. Very opaque for a rose’, brilliant cherry color. Medium intensity nose, displaying red fruit, orange peel, some sweet spices like star anise, and lemon. In the palate it is medium body, with high acidity. The dominant flavor in the palate is citrus. Medium concentration of flavors and length of finish.

This is not a soft rose’ to sip mindlessly on the side of the pool. This wine evolves in the glass and demands attention (and food). Piercing acidity, complex aromas dominated by citrus notes, and the weight, make this an elegant and complex rose’.

Not tasted side-by-side, but the 2023 seems a bit more high in acidity and citrus flavors than the 2022, which instead had more mineral notes.
