Gattinara wines are made with nebbiolo, just like Barolo and Barbaresco. However, their specific terroir, location, and latitude makes the wine less full bodied and more aromatic. And less expensive too.

Dry red wine, 14% alcohol. Medium opacity, dark garnet color. Medium intensity nose, with cherry, strawberry, menthol, sage. Medium-full body, with concentrated flavors in the palate that mirror the nose. Very smooth. Long finish with darker fruit.

This wine impresses for its concentration of flavors. In addition, it is fuller body but its texture makes it feel weightless in the palate. So smooth. A splendid wine.

Second tasting on September 22, 2024. Raspberry, blackberry, pine cone and eucalyptus. There is also a salty component like olives. Full body, concentrated and smooth. Tannins are round and beautifully integrated. This wine is silky.
