Tasted on January 30, 2024. #DailyWine #wine #Fiano #FianoDiAvellino #Campania #Terredora
Fiano is considered by many – including the main authority in Italian wine, Ian D’Agata – one of two best white wine grapes of Italy (the other being Verdicchio). It is a white grape mostly planted in the region of Campania, where Naples is situated. Fiano di Avellino is the main appellation.
Dry white wine, 13.5% alcohol. Very pale, lemon color. Medium-high intensity nose, with lemon, pear, celery, flowers, honey, dried apricot, and almond. Medium body, good concentration of flavors, and nice acidity which leaves a pleasantly tart and long finish.
This wine has everything in the right place: a mesmerizing bouquet, concentrated flavors, balanced, smooth, and complex.
