In the continuum of traditional vs new style Barolo, this is definitely on the new style end, close to the extreme. I already had a few bottles of this, but I haven’t reviewed it yet, so here it is.
Dry red wine, 14.5% alcohol. Medium dark, with bright ruby rim. Medium-high intensity nose, dominated by cherry, dried cherry, cherry liqueur, dried plums, dried fruit and dark fruit jam. There are some notes of flower and dried herbs too. Full body, rich and concentrated in the palate. Same aromas of dried fruit and jam. There is structure to support the rich flavors. Finishes long with fig leaves, dried plums.
This is a decadent wine. A bombastic version of a Barolo that, to me, is not even recognizable as a Nebbiolo. However, it is delicious, ripe, concentrated, big, and soft. Not my wine style, but definitely something to try.
