An Aglianico del Vulture so complex that it can rival aglianico costing 2 or 3 times as much.

This wine is the upper level bottling aglianico of this winery. I already reviewed their entry-level wine. This is an assembly of grapes from different vineyards around 400m and 500m elevation, in order to maximize elegance and aromas. There are also single-vineyard wines, which I hope to review soon. The winery is relatively new in Vulture, but they are already a reference.

Dry red wine, 13.5% alcohol. Ruby color, medium-dark opacity. Medium intensity nose, with an attractive mix of dark fruit (blackberry, plum, mulberry), black tea, tobacco leaves, and spices. Medium body, this has good acidity and tannins to balance the flavors, which are concentrated in the palate. Overall very smooth, but the tannins are present and signal a long aging potential. Closes with persistent aromas of dried plum, smoke, incense, and tobacco.

I am impressed by this wine. It has a beautiful aromatic profile, in which the spice, smoke, and tobacco blend with the fruit. It has good concentration, it is very complex, and I cannot remember ever tasting an aglianico like this.
