A phenomenally rich and well balanced Barolo.
I popped this bottle for my son’s birthday. He turned 7 (and was born in 2017). I already reviewed the entry level Barolo from this producer. This is their vineyard designated Barolo “Prapo”.
Dry red wine, 14.5% alcohol. Medium-dark opacity, burgundy color. Medium-high intensity nose, dominated by strawberry, tart cherry, roses, and sage. Aromas of pine needles open up with time. Full body, high concentration of flavors in the mouth. The tannins are well balanced with the bold flavors. It does not dry your palate. The finish is long and delicious, with notes of menthol.
This is a big, bold Barolo. The flavors are intense, so is the alcohol and the structure. Yet, nothing sticks out as “too much”. Rather, everything is well balanced in a delicious juice.
