How much do you like oak aromas in your red wine?
I have been wanting to try this wine for a long time, as it is the upper riserva level Chianti Classico of a very good producer.
Dry red wine, 14.5% alcohol. Medium-dark opacity with ruby rim. Medium intensity nose, with raspberry and spicy oak notes jumping at you. The influence of the oak adds a sweet accent to the aromatic profile. The oak is also present in the mouth, giving spicebox and vanilla undertones. The body is full, and the acidity and fruit are well balanced. Long finish with red fruit and apples.
I am very sensitive to oak and not a huge fan of oak influence, but I can see this being a winner for most people. To be clear, the oak flavors are minimal compared to wines such as Bordeaux and some new world wines.
