The “Morellino di Scansano” appellation includes wines mostly made of Sangiovese from the coastal area in southern Tuscany. Because they are less famous than Chianti Classico, Vino Nobile, Brunello, etc, they command lower prices – and you can find very affordable gems.
This is from a very solid producer of Morellino (and other wines too), and they make this wine at multiple levels of richness (and price). This is their entry-level bottling. It has ruby color, medium opacity. Medium intensity nose, very pretty with red fruit, jujube, and strong floral notes. Medium body, fresh acidity, and just juicy. Nicely balanced and very easy to drink. Delicious!
