This wine is the big brother of the Fontanabianca Barbaresco of the same vintage that I reviewed here. It is a vineyard designated wine (Bordini), which is for wines that are typically made with better grapes, aged longer before release, are more age worthy, and more expensive.
Ruby color, medium opacity. Medium intensity nose, needs to open up more. Strong strawberry aroma, with hints of roses and sage. Full body, very tannic. The tannins are ripe, but they are there and they coat your palate. Same aromas in the palate as in the nose. This wine needs to age before it can be understood and appreciated. Long finish. Very promising, but now it is dominated by the tannins and the nose is not too expressive.
