2020 Castello di Ama “Ama” Chianti Classico [Rating 4/5 | $27]

This is another reference Chianti Classico. It makes good to great wines along all the range, from the entry level to the top-of-line Gran Selezione, which is very expensive.

This is their entry level Chianti Classico, which is already not inexpensive, retailing for around $25-27, but it is also one of the fuller-body and richer ones on the market. Flowers, purple fruit, and grilled herbs in the nose. The texture is medium-full, with high acidity and pronounced tannins, although they are well integrated with the sweet floral aromatics. The finish is long. This wine would benefit from some time in the cellar, as the tannins stand out. It is a big wine.
