This is a riserva Chianti Classico from another reference producer in the appellation. Badia a Coltibuono is one of the more traditional producers, meaning they avoid strong wood influence and international varieties.
This wine is ruby color, medium intensity. The aromas in the nose are very intense, with fresh red fruit, jujube, and wild strawberry. Concentrated flavors in the mouth, with a smooth and perfect integration of bright acidity and fruit. Also sage and chocolate appear. Finishes with ripe tannins and a long aftertaste. This wine has a long life ahead. I am impressed by the smooth mouthfeel and the concentration of bright red fruit. I will put one aside in my cellar.
